Hats+ Hope is our charitable initiative providing essential supplies such as warm hats, scarves and care packages to those experiencing homelessness or hardship. 20% of every sale made goes to helping the initative do more for the community.

How It Started

Hats + Hope didn't start as an organization, a fundraiser, or even with a big plan. Seven years ago, it was simply two sisters, some handmade hats, and a desire to help.

Originally called Hats for the Homeless, the effort began in the metro Atlanta area, where we handed out hats we'd made ourselves to people experiencing homelessness—sometimes accompanied by a warm cup of soup or hot cocoa.

Then something wonderful happened: other people wanted to help.

A few fellow makers began contributing handmade hats of their own. Later, people who didn't knit or crochet started purchasing warm hats from local stores and donating those instead. What began as something small between two sisters slowly became something other people could be part of too.

Today, that little effort has grown into Hats + Hope.

The name has changed because our vision has grown beyond hats. While providing warmth remains at the heart of what we do, our goal is to expand into care packages, food drives, holiday toy drives for children in need, and other forms of practical community support.

And we're still growing.

Over the next five years, our goal is to take Hats + Hope beyond the tri-state area and help communities across the country create a little more warmth, dignity, and hope—one act of kindness at a time.
